В ходе попытки государственного переворота 15 июля 2016 года в Турции правительством были задействованы секретные военизированные подразделения. На видео, появившееся в социальных сетях, видно, как вооруженный мужчина со словами «мы прибыли на помощь по вызову полиции», направляется вдоль забора. Он передвигается с пистолетом в руках под звуки выстрелов и воя сирен «скорой помощи». В начале видео вооруженный мужчина здоровается и сообщает, что находится в зоне конфликта: «Ассаламу алейкум, друзья! Сейчас мы на месте столкновений». Его слова слышны на фоне выстрелов. Ранее утверждалось, что в событиях 15 июля военные были обстреляны вооруженными людьми. Убил ли кого-нибудь из военных или гражданских человек на видео остается неизвестным. Обращают на себя внимание слова мужчины на видео, который произнес: «мы прибыли на помощь по вызову полиции». На кадрах видно, что он переговаривается с группой лиц, находящихся за его спиной, но на камуфляже мужчины нет опознавательных элементов, поэтому сложно сказать к какому роду войск он принадлежит. Слова о том, что «мы прибыли по вызову полиции» указывают на то, что прибывшие относятся к определенной военной структуре. Ярый сторонник правящей Партии справедливости и развития Фатих Тезджан ранее не скрывал, что в ночь попытки переворота на месте столкновений присутствовали военизированные подразделения Фонда защиты прав и свобод человека и гуманитарной помощи (İHH), которых направил сам глава фонда Бюлент Йылдырым. Таким образом подтверждается версия о том, что кроме солдат вооруженных сил Турции в конфликте участвовали секретные вооруженные подразделения правительства.
Имеется версия о том, что для того, чтобы вызвать волнения в народе огонь по гражданским, в частности на Босфорском мосту, 15 июля открыли вооруженные лица, направленные правительством.
Поскольку эти утверждения не доказаны, между тем они подтверждаются наличием появившегося видео, признанием Фатиха Тезджана о существовании секретных военизированных подразделений и участием их в столкновениях в ходе попытки переворота. Не исключено, что данные военизированные формирования относятся к İHH и частной консалтинговой компании, специализирующейся на вопросах обороны SADAT. Вооруженный пистолетом мужчина на видео, участвовавший в событиях 15 июля, является членом организации «Мусульманская молодежь Анатолии», близкой к террористической группировке «Фронт исламских завоевателей Великого Востока» IBDA-C, а также является боевиком, воюющим в Сирии. Это показал анализ его постов в Facebook в группе под названием Nakşi Sırrı Kavgamız.
